Programme Overview

Fun Football is part of the official NZF Junior Framework and follows the principles of New Zealand Football’s Whole of Football Plan. It is designed to build on the First Kicks foundation and support 7 and 8-year-olds in developing technical ability, game understanding, and confidence in a fun, inclusive environment.

Players participate in structured activities that promote skill development, teamwork, and creativity, all while enjoying the game and building a love for football.

Schedule & Venue

  • Start Date: Saturday, 3 May 2025
  • Day & Time: Saturdays, 9:45 AM – 10:45 AM
  • Venue: Field #2, Te Puru Park, Beachlands
  • Duration: 60 minutes per session
  • Season Length: 16 weeks

Please Note:

  • No sessions on long weekends or during the Term 2–3 school holiday break
  • Please arrive 10 minutes early each week to find your team and be ready to start on time

Programme Format

Each session runs for 60 minutes and is split into two parts:

  • 30 minutes of activity station rotation, focusing on:
    • Fundamental movement skills
    • Football technique (e.g. passing, dribbling, shooting)
    • Football coordination and decision-making
  • 30 minutes of small-sided games (3v3 or 4v4), allowing players to apply their skills in real game scenarios

This format supports both technical development and tactical awareness while keeping sessions fast-paced and engaging.

What to Bring

To ensure your child is ready and safe to play, please make sure they bring:

  • Club uniform (purchased from Inter Football)
  • Football boots (required – no metal studs)
  • Shin pads (required)
  • Full water bottle
  • A positive attitude and energy to play!

Weather Information

Sessions will go ahead in light rain. In the event of severe weather or field closures, cancellations will be communicated via WhatsApp Group Chat: FK/FF Updates by 7:00 AM on the day if not sooner.

Volunteer Roles

Our First Kicks programme runs best when parents get involved. Each team requires one of the following:

  • Team Leader – Helps organise the team each week, supports players at their station, and assists with communication. You don’t need football experience – just a willingness to help!
  • Team Manager – Handles basic admin and communication with parents (e.g. WhatsApp group updates, reminders)

In addition, we have Game Leaders delivering the activities at each station. These are trained youth or senior players and supported by the club.

We’ll provide full guidance and support – you won’t be left on your own!
If you’re keen to help out, please let us know during registration or contact the club directly.

How to Get Involved

Volunteering is easy – and it makes a big difference for your child and their team!

If you’re interested in becoming a Team Leader, Team Manager, or simply helping out on the day:

  • Let us know during the registration process
  • Or contact the club directly via Get Involved
  • All volunteers will be invited to a short onboarding session before the season begins

You don’t need any football knowledge – just a willingness to help and a friendly attitude! Training and support will be provided.
