The Skills Centre provides an aligned, co-ordinated approach to junior footballers, aged 9-12 years, wishing to access another high quality, enjoyable football experience that enhances skill development.

Skills Centre sessions are delivered by coaches with the NZF Junior Level 3 Accreditation.

Programme Curriculum

The BMAFC Skills Centre curriculum is designed using the following principles to ensure the appropriate training environment for holistic player development:

  1. Training that looks like the game 
  2. Lots of time on the ball 
  3. An enjoyable learning environment 
  4. Players are fully engaged in training 
  5. Effective Feedback for players

Each training session will focus on one of the following core skills:

  • Striking the ball
  • Receiving the ball
  • 1v1 
  • Travelling with the ball
  • Pressing 
  • Marking
  • Intercepting

Games Programme

During Term 4 we offer Skills Centre members access to competitive games against other local clubs through our SKC . All players registered to the Skills Centre in Term 4 will be given the opportunity to register for this additional programme. All matches will be filmed for players to review their performances and receive individualised feedback from coaches.

Home games will be played at one of our venues (Beachlands Domain or Te Puru Park) and away games may be hosted by other East Auckland clubs. Teams will be formed based on age and experience to ensure players an appropriate challenge point. Teams will be coached by Skills Centre coaches.

Wet Weather Process

Any session postponements due to bad weather will be communicated via email so please check your email before leaving for the session. Postponed sessions will be caught up at the end of a term or at the beginning of the next term.

COVID-19 Guidelines

Our programmes can be safely delivered in line with the current Covid-19 Protection Framework under both Orange and Green traffic lights. The maximum number of participants for each group will be 12 in order to keep within current restrictions.

The following guidelines will be in place to ensure the safety of everyone involved:

  • All coaches are required to be fully vaccinated
  • Only 1 person should accompany each child at drop-off and pick-up
  • Parents / Caregivers will be required to sign-in via the Covid Tracer App using the QR code provided
