The BMAFC committee are pleased to unveil our new 5-year Strategy “Reaching Our Potential”!

After 12 months of gathering feedback from various areas of the club and compiling this with data used to analyse club operations and efficiency. We have put together a strategy that we believe is broad enough to excite members in any area of the club, while identifying specific areas to focus on and target resources to ensure we are not wasting valuable resources any more.

Here’s what our President, Brian Preston has to say about our new strategy:

The committee are proud to unveil our strategic football plan in line with NZF’s guidance on providing football for the whole community but pathways to the elite level.

Beachlands Maraetai AFC is approaching its 40th anniversary, and the club along with community has come long way; established in 1984 with some very dedicated, passionate members of the community, none more so than our founding President, Steven Dunne. BMAFC has produced some great footballers over the years who have gone on play at representative level as well as abroad with scholarships in the USA. This season had over 500 playing members registered and now 40% of this membership is back for summer football.

This is testament to everyone over the years who have given their time and energy to making sure we meet the demand for football on the coast. I am extremely grateful to the current committee, whom over the last 3 years with the pandemic, have managed to find the time, to cater for our community, whilst maintain work and family commitments, which we all know has had its many challenges these last 3 years.

Last year we appointed our first ever paid employee. Munith was appointed Director of Football to help us better deliver football to the community, create pathways, but also educate our coaches. 2022 was not year 1, it was year zero, as he had to strip things right back so they are ready to hit the ground running in 2023. This was a massive investment for the club, but one that was required to give the club the ability to deliver value and a quality product for many years to come.

We have had many discussions on where the club should be heading and what we offer. What the committee has collectively decided is that we must set a strong strategic plan, implement processes so that the club and its members will prosper and enjoy the beautiful game for many years to come.

Our new strategic plan is designed to ensure that we build on what others have done before us, to carry on the vision of those who started BMAFC and ran the club from a garage in 1984. This will ensure we deliver on todays requirements, while putting in place key initiatives in place that will sustain the growth on the beautiful Pohutukawa Coast.

We invite you to consider the plan and to let us know if there’s anything particularly important to you on behalf of the club and community you love.

Its an exciting time to be part of this leadership team at BMAFC again, after some hard graft over the last 3 years. We would like to extend our thanks to the continued and unwavering support from our sponsors, partners, members, and the football community. Together we will grow, we will foster, we will thrive.

Go the Mighty BMAFC!
