We believe the U5 – U8 grades are of the utmost importance to the future of our club and growing the beautiful game. To ensure we’re able to provide the best possible experience to our youngest players and allow them to develop the skills required to progress through the ranks at BMAFC, this season we are introducing a $75 Coaching Fee to our First Kicks & Fun Football membership.
In recent years, we as a club have found it more and more challenging to provide teams with volunteer coaches. We often get to the start of the season with not enough coaches to deliver a good programme or some teams without a coach at all. Those who are passionate and brave enough to put themselves forward often have little to no experience in the game or are unable to commit to the extra training and time commitment required to develop the skills our players require.
Volunteers have, and always will be the lifeline of our club and we continue to seek your help and support to make football safe and enjoyable for everyone! What this change in structure means, is that we will no longer be reliant on volunteers to provide the football training element of the First Kicks & Fun Football Programmes.
For those of you who already coach a team, have the skills, knowledge and commitment necessary to provide for our players this fee will ensure that you are rewarded for the valuable contribution you are already making.
This fee means that we will be able to provide each team with paid coaches who have:
- New Zealand Football Junior Level 2 Accreditation
- 5+ Years of experience playing or coaching football
These coaches will be responsible for the planning, preparation and delivery of the “Station Rotation” activities and will also referee/coach during the Small-Sided Game portion of the session.
The 2023 programme will include 18 sessions, working out to less than $11.40 per session!
Each team will still require at least one parent to volunteer as a Team Manager/Coach who will be responsible for the organisation/communication element of our programme.
Responsibilities include:
- Sharing club and team information with team members via a Whatsapp group
- Ensuring players and parents know when & where to be and on time!
- Supporting and accompanying players while they train and move around the activities
- Refereeing/Coaching matches during the Small-Sided Games portion of the session (No experience required!!)
FREE Coaching Courses and training will be available to all members in April so that anyone interested in becoming a paid Coach or volunteer Team Manager/Coach is confident they have the necessary skills to deliver the programme.
To volunteer or express interest in becoming a Coach or Team Manager/Coach please email dof@bmafc.co.nz
To provide feedback on the new fee and structure please email secretary@bmafc.co.nz
We hope that this is a welcome change and look forward to providing you with a higher level of football experience that inspires and empowers our future players!
