Welcome to the 2020 football season with BMAFC. My name is Kirk Davis, and I have recently been elected as your new President.
As I am sure you are aware by now, Covid-19 is going to affect our football season. The season was originally due to start on April 4th for one week before the school holidays, however due to the Covid-19 virus the Season has now been rescheduled to start on May 2nd once school resumes.
In addition, AFF (Auckland Football Federation) have advised that no training or tournaments should take place prior to April 18th. This means that we cannot complete the grading sessions for the 9th and 10th grade teams and our girls only squads until April 18th, nor can our teams train, and we would request that you all respect this.
Please note that these are the currently advised dates – they may change as the situation changes so please keep an eye on our Facebook page, and our website. Please check the Facebook page, then the Website first before emailing us, as our workload is currently high, and most answers will be there.
Please be patient with us as we work through this rapidly evolving, very fluid scenario. This is an unprecedented situation, and the decisions being made are in the best interests of our members.
I can assure you that a huge amount of time and effort has gone in so far to get us to where we are, and will continue to go in to ensure that we are ready to go when the situation allows. We are a very small committee of 6 or so members, so if anyone wants to step up and assist, your help would be welcomed!
Getting back out on the football fields is about “when” rather than “if”, and the more we can work together to prevent the spread of this virus, the sooner we will be back playing.
